The $100,000 Animation Drawing Course - Lesson 1 Part 2

Here is another sketch I did this weekend. What is this character? William thought it was Droopy but Droopy's face is a bit more square.

While looking for old cartoon characters, William told me about Snagglepuss. I had never heard or seen it, but it's hilarious. I like the way he talks. Love it, even.

It looks like you drew a slightly off-model Droopy to me. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghG0lWxRABM)

If you change the shading on his jaws (jowls?) to slightly lighter than his mouth and give him lidded eyes, he's totally Droopy, but with Pluto/Goofy's head/neck.

My first thought is that you drew the original Droopy, before they finalized his model, but I was way off. He basically came in exactly right. There may be another cartoon dog that this resembles, but I know I thought it was Droopy, too.

I also just spent some time reading this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_dogs and remember such awesome dogs as Deputy Dawg, Underdog, Dynomutt, and Mr. Peabody.

Snagglepuss rules. Rocks, even. For some reason, out of the three biggest cartoon pussycats (Sylvester, Tom, and Snaggles-chan), one lisps and has a speech impediment, the other is a flamboyant actor, and Tom is the only one who isn't some kind of weird stereotype.

Even the Pink Panther is very sleek, loves jewelry, and is... pink.

Yeah, it looks like it could be Droopy, but then the original one that I drew off of looks pretty much like what I drew.
